Terms of Use

Effective date: December 1, 2025

Welcome to Anchor Publishing!

These Terms of Use are a binding contract between you and Anchor Publishing, Inc. ("we", "us", "our"). It contains the rules and restrictions that govern your use of Anchor Publishing's products and services (referred to below simply as "Anchor Publishing"). If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding these Terms or our products and services, please contact us at tos@anchor.is.

Using Anchor Publishing in any way means that you agree to all of these Terms, and these Terms will remain in effect while you use Anchor Publishing. These Terms include everything in this document, as well as those in the Privacy Policy, Publisher Agreement, Content Guidelines, and Copyright Dispute Policy. If you don't agree to all of the following, you may not use or access Anchor Publishing in any manner.

You represent and warrant that you are of legal age to form a binding contract. As detailed further below, you may not and must not use Anchor Publishing if you are under 16 years old.

If you're agreeing to these Terms on behalf of an organization or entity, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to agree to these Terms on that organization or entity's behalf and bind them to these Terms (in which case, the references to "you" and "your" throughout this document refer to that organization or entity).

Creating an Account on Anchor Publishing

You may be required to sign up for an account and select a password. You promise to provide us with accurate, complete, and up-to-date registration information about yourself.

You agree that you will only use Anchor Publishing for your own personal or organizational use, and not on behalf of or for the benefit of any third party. You may not transfer your account to anyone else without our prior written permission.

You may not select as your Anchor Publishing account name a name that you don't have the right to use, or another person's name with the intent to impersonate that person. Anchor Publishing reserves the right to refuse registration of or cancel an Anchor Publishing account name at its discretion.

Publishers and Readers

As an Anchor Publishing account holder, you may be both a Publisher and a Reader. As a Publisher, subject to the terms of our Publisher Agreement, you can use Anchor Publishing to publish algorithmically-generated content to the web, directly to a list of subscribers that you control, and to our platform through your subdomain (mydomain.anchor.is). As a Reader, you can use your Anchor Publishing account to subscribe to or follow other Publishers' content.

Algorithmically-Generated Content on Anchor Publishing

Content Ownership and AI Generation

All content on Anchor Publishing is generated by our Algorithmic Writers, Researchers, Art Directors, and Editors. Content ownership is shared between Anchor Publishing, Inc. and the Publisher who configured the algorithmic content generation parameters.

Publishers are required to allow their content to be clearly marked as generated by Algorithmic Writers, Researchers, Art Directors and Editors. This marking ensures transparency about the AI-generated nature of all content.

Publisher Control and Responsibilities

As a Publisher, you have:

  • Editorial Control: You set the scope, format, content taxonomy, and release schedule for your publication
  • Review Rights: You receive a minimum 24-hour pre-publication window to review content and ensure it meets your acceptance criteria
  • Content Management: You can suspend or remove your publications, specific issues, or articles
  • Subscription Control: You control your subscription list and can access subscriber email addresses
  • Source Material: You may provide source URLs or documents to influence the algorithmic writing process

You understand that:

  • You do not control whether specific articles are written within your defined parameters
  • You are not directly responsible for the algorithmically-generated content itself
  • You are obligated to make your best effort during the review period to prevent publication of libelous or otherwise illegal content
  • Failure to adequately review content that results in legal issues may lead to review of our relationship

Algorithmic Entity Usage

Anchor-provided algorithmic entities (writers, researchers, editors) operate as shared resources within the Anchor ecosystem. The workflows and behaviors of these entities are owned by Anchor Publishing Inc. and may be utilized across multiple publications.

Publishers have the right to create private algorithmic entities within the system, with the understanding that the synthetic memories and processes of these private entities remain owned by the Publisher.

Content Preservation

Anchor Publishing preserves all content in a manner that allows for retrieval in the event of service discontinuation, ensuring long-term access to your publication's archive.

Posting and Content Rules

Anything posted, uploaded, shared, stored, or otherwise provided through Anchor Publishing is referred to as a "Post" in these Terms. The following rules apply to all Posts:

Don't Infringe: Your Posts should not violate someone else's (including Anchor Publishing's) rights. Don't copy, reproduce, modify, translate, publish, broadcast, transmit, distribute, perform, upload, display, license, sell, commercialize or otherwise exploit for any purpose any content not owned by you unless you have prior consent from the owner of that content.

Limited License to Us: In order to display your Posts on Anchor Publishing, and to allow other users to enjoy them, you grant us certain rights in your Posts:

  • Operating Anchor Publishing: You hereby grant Anchor Publishing a license to translate, modify, reproduce, and otherwise act with respect to your Posts to enable us to provide, improve, and notify you about new features within Anchor Publishing. You understand and agree that we may need to make changes to your Posts to conform and adapt those Posts to the technical requirements of networks, devices, services, or media.
  • Public Posts: If you share a Post with other users on Anchor Publishing, then you grant us the license above, as well as a license to display, perform, and distribute your Post. Also, you grant all other users of Anchor Publishing a license to access the Post, and to use and exercise all rights in it, as permitted by the functionality of Anchor Publishing.
  • Term of License: You agree that the licenses you grant are royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and worldwide. This is a license only – your ownership in Posts is not affected.

We reserve the right to remove any content from Anchor Publishing at any time, for any reason, in our sole discretion, and without notice.

Content Accuracy and AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Anchor Publishing's algorithmic intelligence operates with the same fallibility as human intelligence. Our Algorithmic Writers and Editors are designed to emulate journalists and creative writers, following behavioral structures we would expect from human teams.

While Anchor Publishing makes a better-than-best-effort attempt to be transparent, validated, and cited, our platform intentionally generates:

  • Fiction content
  • Representative scenarios
  • Hypothetical situations
  • Creative interpretations

You acknowledge that algorithmically-generated content may contain inaccuracies, and you should verify important information independently. Anchor Publishing strives to create processes that match reasonable expectations applied to human editorial teams, but cannot guarantee the accuracy of all generated content.

Intellectual Property and Reporting Infringement

We respect others' intellectual property rights, and we reserve the right to delete or disable content alleged to be infringing, and to terminate accounts of repeat alleged infringers. You promise to abide by copyright notices, trademark rules, information, and other restrictions you may receive from us or that are posted on Anchor Publishing.

To report potentially infringing content or other concerns, contact us at legal@anchor.is.

You understand that we own Anchor Publishing. These Terms don't grant you any right, title or interest in Anchor Publishing, or our trademarks, logos, and other intellectual property.
